Why We Started This Project

  • Kathrine Grissom

    FOUNDER

Kathrine Grissom is the proud Founder of For the Luv of Rackets, a nonprofit dedicated to giving every child the chance to fall in love with tennis. Growing up, Kathrine saw firsthand how access to sports could shape a young person’s future—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.

Through For the Luv of Rackets, she has created opportunities for children in underserved communities to receive free tennis equipment, lessons, clinics, and scholarships. Kathrine believes tennis is more than a sport—it’s a pathway to confidence, discipline, and lifelong friendships.

Her mission is simple but powerful: remove barriers, open doors, and inspire the next generation to believe in themselves both on and off the court. With every racket placed in a child’s hand, Kathrine is helping them discover their potential and create brighter futures.

Join For the Luv of Rackets in this mission. Whether you are a tennis player who wants to learn, a philanthropist who wants to donate money or equipment to the cause, or a volunteer who wants to help with our clinics — let’s connect and help make this dream a reality.

  • Margaret Schulte

    CO-FOUNDER

Margaret Schulte is a current junior at Louisville Collegiate and proud to be a Co-Founder of For the Luv of Rackets. At 8 years old, she discovered tennis for the first time and it became the center of my world. She signed up for lessons at the Louisville Tennis Club, received private lessons to work on my techniques, and began traveling to play in tournaments across the Southern US region. Along the way, she made memories, friendships, and skills that she will carry with her for a lifetime.

When she started coaching students who didn’t have the same privileges she had growing up, she realized just how lucky she was that she was able to have these experiences. She provided lessons to students who played on clay courts in jeans or students who didn’t regularly have access to equipment. The reality is there are financial and resource barriers to starting tennis, but it’s also a passion that can be life-changing.

Margaret believes that tennis is a life-long passion that empowers, because it teaches valuable lessons in resilience, friendship, and self-confidence. Every student deserves a chance to share in this experience, which is why she’s made it her mission to share this joy with every student in Louisville who wants to learn.
